Abstract: This paper expounds the coloring technology of filled polytetrafluoroethylene, analyzes the relevant factors affecting the color matching process, and introduces the problems and solutions in the color matching process.

Colored tetrafluoroethylene products are difficult to control due to the high technical requirements of production, and the color difference stability is difficult to control. At present, most domestic filled PTFE products are dominated by dark-colored products. The colored filled PTFE products are not only reflected in the beautiful color, but also their basic performance has been improved. Therefore, the proportion of colored filled PTFE products will be larger and larger in the future development, generally in imported dynamic seals. Polytetrafluoroethylene filled products are mainly colored products; the coloring research of polytetrafluoroethylene products is of great significance to the development of filled polytetrafluoroethylene products.

Two color matching principle

The mixing of color pigments is subtractive mixing, generally only three colors of red, yellow and blue are mixed. The so-called red is a wavelength that transmits red wavelengths (feels red) and absorbs colors very close to green. The same is true for yellow and blue. When yellow and blue are mixed, the yellow pigment absorbs the short wavelengths, the blue pigment absorbs the long wavelength bands and leaves the middle green wavelength band to pass through, so people feel green. Similarly, when red and yellow are mixed, the longer wavelength band above 560 nm is transmitted and becomes orange. In the same way, red and blue are mixed together to make purple.

People often refer to red, yellow, and blue as the three primary colors, and the two colors are combined to form the secondary color. There are also three secondary colors, as shown in Figure 1, red and blue make purple; yellow and blue make green; red and yellow make orange. The colors produced by two secondary colors are called "complex colors", such as olive, brown, blue-gray, etc.

In addition, on the basis of the primary color or secondary color, by diluting with white, you can make light red, pink, light blue, lake blue, and other shades of different colors; adding different amounts of black, you can adjust brown, dark brown , black and green and other colors with different brightness. Therefore, white and black are often called vanishing colors.

According to the above-mentioned principle, the triangular color matching method is briefly introduced, as shown in Figure 2. The three vertices of the triangle in the figure are the three primary colors of red, yellow, and blue, respectively, and a series of intermediate tones obtained by mixing two primary color pigments can be found on the sides. . It is also possible to use the three primary colors and secondary colors to form various complex tones in the middle area of the triangle, such as blue-gray, burgundy and so on.

It is worth noting that, avoid using the three primary colors of red, yellow, and blue to color at the same time, that is, to avoid the color of the central area of the triangle - black. At the same time, when you need to use multiple colors, you should try to stay away from the center area as much as possible, otherwise, the color you put together will become darker. When color matching, one type of pigment is often used as the main color, and then a small amount of other pigments are combined for color matching.
